Are you naturally a performer? Do you feel like you have to perform in order to be liked and accepted? Do you feel like your life is supposed to be a performance?

Well, it really depends on who you are and what you want. In episode 670 of the Ziglar show, host Kevin Miller and guest Michele Prince discuss performance and presentation. When it comes to performing or giving a presentation (in any sense of the word), it comes down to the context, and what type or level of performance is necessary according to the context.

A presentation and a performance are both acts that require some forethought and preparation, right? Think about serious conversations, decisions or social moves you’ve made; let’s say you have a long time crush and decide to ask someone on a date. Doesn’t it take a little courage and preparation to pitch the idea verbally? Imagine you meet an employer for a job interview. Don’t you prepare yourself ahead of time and have some things prepared to say? Or if you need to have a serious conversation with your spouse, your child, or even a close friend, does it not take some preparation and isn’t it a different type of conversation than other, less serious conversations? Discussions and conversations like these are these should require the concept of “thinking before speaking” comes in.

But then again…shouldn’t all conversations? Shouldn’t all verbal communication include thinking before speaking? But that’s another topic.
