What does it mean? I explain this concept of “Off Beat On” briefly in the description of this blog, but I wanted to dig deeper into it to bring better understanding, and also to bring some insight and encouragement to whomever may be reading.

Do you recognize when someone is singing or playing music and is off beat? When you hear music and the rhythm just doesn’t sound right? It may be easier for some people to hear than others, but it is a metaphor for any individual’s life, as well as their “genius,” as I unpacked in my previous post (https://medium.com/off-beat-on/recognize-your-genius-633b390307c5).

Along the lines of embracing your unique genius — apart from the norm you feel pressured to fit into — being “offbeat” is the same thing. The concept of “Off Beat On” is this:

Do you feel like your life is off beat? Do you feel pressured to conform to a “tempo” that just doesn’t feel right to you? Well, you don’t have to! If you feel off beat, it probably means you are surrounded in the wrong social atmosphere, the wrong line of work, or the wrong spiritual, behavioral, physical or other kinds of environments and influences.

The good news is this: you have a unique “beat” and just because you feel “offbeat” doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It doesn’t mean you truly are offbeat. It just may mean you are looking in the wrong places in which you can smoothly, flawlessly let your own, unique “beat” thrive and sing. There is a song somewhere in this life that fits your beat perfectly. There is a song in this life…
